योऽन्तःसुखोऽन्तरारामस्तथान्तर्ज्योतिरेव यः
yogī — yogi
Whoever is happy within, at rest within, and lit from within — that one who practises reaches the peace of Brahman.
- 6.1
अनाश्रितः कर्मफलं कार्यं कर्म करोति यः
yogī — yogi
One who does the work that must be done without depending on its fruit — that one is both a renouncer and a practitioner of yoga; not the one who lights no fire and does nothing.

यं संन्यासमिति प्राहुर्योगं तं विद्धि पाण्डव
yogam — yog
Know that what they call renunciation is yoga, son of Pandu. No one becomes a practitioner without giving up the intention behind the act.

ज्ञानविज्ञानतृप्तात्मा कूटस्थो विजितेन्द्रियः

Content in knowledge and in what has been realised, unmoved, senses conquered — such a one is said to be joined.

योगी युञ्जीत सततमात्मानं रहसि स्थितः

Let one who practises sit constantly alone, in a secluded place, mind and self restrained, without expectation, owning nothing.

युञ्जन्नेवं सदाऽऽत्मानं योगी नियतमानसः

Keeping the self constantly so joined, the practitioner with a disciplined mind reaches the peace that is the highest release, and dwells in me.

युञ्जन्नेवं सदाऽऽत्मानं योगी विगतकल्मषः
yogī — a yogi
Keeping the self constantly so joined, freed of faults, the practitioner easily reaches the boundless happiness of touching Brahman.

सर्वभूतस्थितं यो मां भजत्येकत्वमास्थितः
yogī — a yogi
One who, established in oneness, worships me as present in all beings — however such a person lives, that one lives in me.

आत्मौपम्येन सर्वत्र समं पश्यति योऽर्जुन
yogī — a yogi
One who sees everywhere as they see themselves, Arjuna — in joy or in sorrow alike — that one is held to be the highest practitioner.

प्रयत्नाद्यतमानस्तु योगी संशुद्धकिल्बिषः

Striving with effort, purified of fault, perfected across many births, the practitioner then reaches the highest goal.

तपस्विभ्योऽधिको योगी ज्ञानिभ्योऽपि मतोऽधिकः

The practitioner is greater than the ascetic, greater than the learned, and greater than those who perform rites. So become one who practises, Arjuna.

धूमो रात्रिस्तथा कृष्णः षण्मासा दक्षिणायनम्

Smoke, night, the dark fortnight, the six months of the southern course: departing then, one reaches the light of the moon and returns.

Knowing these two paths, son of Pritha, one who practises is not confused by them. So at all times be joined in yoga, Arjuna.

वेदेषु यज्ञेषु तपःसु चैव दानेषु यत्पुण्यफलं प्रदिष्टम्

Whatever merit is promised by the study of the Vedas, by offerings, by austerities and by giving — one who practises knows all of it, and goes beyond, to the first and highest place.

सन्तुष्टः सततं योगी यतात्मा दृढनिश्चयः

content, self-governed, firm in resolve, always joined, with mind and understanding given to me — such a devoted one is dear to me.
