6.8 Content in what is realised Krishna speaks

ज्ञानविज्ञानतृप्तात्मा कूटस्थो विजितेन्द्रियः
युक्त इत्युच्यते योगी समलोष्टाश्मकाञ्चनः

jñāna-vijñāna-tṛiptātmā kūṭa-stho vijitendriyaḥ
yukta ityuchyate yogī sama-loṣhṭāśhma-kāñchanaḥ

Content in knowledge and in what has been realised, unmoved, senses conquered — such a one is said to be joined.

Explanation

Content in knowledge and in what has been realised.

jñāna-vijñāna-tṛptātmā — the pair from chapter 7, and both are required. Knowing it and having realised it.

Content is the operative word. Not certain, not accomplished: no longer hungry for more of it, which is a harder test of understanding than any examination.
