12.14 Content, and given over Krishna speaks

सन्तुष्टः सततं योगी यतात्मा दृढनिश्चयः
मय्यर्पितमनोबुद्धिर्यो मद्भक्तः स मे प्रियः

santuṣhṭaḥ satataṁ yogī yatātmā dṛiḍha-niśhchayaḥ
mayy arpita-mano-buddhir yo mad-bhaktaḥ sa me priyaḥ

content, self-governed, firm in resolve, always joined, with mind and understanding given to me — such a devoted one is dear to me.

Explanation

Content, self-governed, firm — and only then, given over.

santuṣṭaḥ, contented. The word sits oddly in a devotional list: contentment is what people usually seek through practice, and here it is named as a feature of the practitioner.

The devotional clause comes last in the verse, after four ordinary steadinesses. The chapter keeps putting the character before the worship.
