  1. 2.15

    यं हि न व्यथयन्त्येते पुरुषं पुरुषर्षभ

    puruṣham — person

    The one whom these do not disturb, who is the same in pain and pleasure and steady — that one is fit for what does not die.

    यततो ह्यपि कौन्तेय पुरुषस्य विपश्चितः

    puruṣhasya — of a person

    Even for a person of discernment who is trying, son of Kunti, the restless senses carry the mind away by force.

    किं तद्ब्रह्म किमध्यात्मं किं कर्म पुरुषोत्तम

    What is that Brahman? What is the self? What is action? What is called the ground of matter, and what the ground of the gods?

    परं ब्रह्म परं धाम पवित्रं परमं भवान्

    puruṣham — personality

    You are the supreme Brahman, the supreme abode, the highest purifier; the eternal divine person, the first of gods, unborn, all-pervading.

    स्वयमेवात्मनाऽत्मानं वेत्थ त्वं पुरुषोत्तम

    puruṣha-uttama — the Supreme Personality

    You alone know yourself by yourself, highest person, source of beings, lord of beings, god of gods, ruler of the world.

    एवमेतद्यथात्थ त्वमात्मानं परमेश्वर

    puruṣha-uttama — Shree Krishna, the Supreme Divine Personality

    You have spoken of yourself as you are, supreme lord. Now I wish to see that form of yours as ruler.

    प्रकृतिं पुरुषं चैव क्षेत्रं क्षेत्रज्ञमेव च

    puruṣham — the enjoyer

    Nature and the person, the field and the knower of the field, knowledge and what is to be known — these I wish to understand, Krishna.

    प्रकृतिं पुरुषं चैव विद्ध्यनादी उभावपि

    puruṣham — the individual souls

    Know that nature and the person are both without beginning. Know too that the changes and the strands arise from nature.

  9. 13.24

    य एवं वेत्ति पुरुषं प्रकृतिं च गुणैःसह

    puruṣham — Puruṣh

    One who thus knows the person and nature together with the strands is not born again, however they live.

    ततः पदं तत्परिमार्गितव्य यस्मिन्गता न निवर्तन्ति भूयः

    puruṣham — the Supreme Lord

    one should then seek out that place from which, having gone, none return — and take refuge in the primal person from whom this whole unfolding came.

    यस्मात्क्षरमतीतोऽहमक्षरादपि चोत्तमः

    puruṣha-uttamaḥ — as the Supreme Divine Personality

    Because I am beyond the perishable and higher even than the imperishable, I am celebrated in the world and in the Vedas as the highest person.

    यो मामेवमसम्मूढो जानाति पुरुषोत्तमम्

    puruṣha-uttamam — the Supreme Divine Personality

    One who, undeluded, knows me as the highest person knows everything, and worships me with their whole being, Arjuna.

    निश्चयं श्रृणु मे तत्र त्यागे भरतसत्तम
