The scriptures deal with the three strands of nature. Rise above them, Arjuna: free of opposites, steady in what is true, without acquiring, established in yourself.

तपस्विभ्योऽधिको योगी ज्ञानिभ्योऽपि मतोऽधिकः
bhava — just become
The practitioner is greater than the ascetic, greater than the learned, and greater than those who perform rites. So become one who practises, Arjuna.

नैते सृती पार्थ जानन्योगी मुह्यति कश्चन

Knowing these two paths, son of Pritha, one who practises is not confused by them. So at all times be joined in yoga, Arjuna.

Fix your mind on me, be devoted to me, make your offering to me, bow to me. So joined, with me as your goal, you will come to me.

So stand up. Win honour. Conquer your enemies and enjoy a flourishing kingdom. By me they are already slain; be only the instrument, Arjuna.

I wish to see you as before — crowned, bearing the club, the disc in your hand. Take on that four-armed form, thousand-armed one of universal form.

If you are unable even to practise, then make my work your highest aim. Doing what is to be done for my sake, you will reach perfection.
