11.46 I wish to see you as before Arjuna speaks
किरीटिनं गदिनं चक्रहस्त मिच्छामि त्वां द्रष्टुमहं तथैव
तेनैव रूपेण चतुर्भुजेन सहस्रबाहो भव विश्वमूर्ते
kirīṭinaṁ gadinaṁ chakra-hastam
ichchhāmi tvāṁ draṣhṭum ahaṁ tathaiva
tenaiva rūpeṇa chatur-bhujena
sahasra-bāho bhava viśhva-mūrte
I wish to see you as before — crowned, bearing the club, the disc in your hand. Take on that four-armed form, thousand-armed one of universal form.
Explanation
I wish to see you as before.
Crowned, bearing the club, the disc in hand — the four-armed form.
Not the human one yet. He asks for something in between: still divine, still recognisable, and bounded. The negotiation is very carefully written.
