  1. 7.9

    पुण्यो गन्धः पृथिव्यां च तेजश्चास्मि विभावसौ

    tejaḥ — brilliance

    I am the clean fragrance of the earth and the brightness in fire; the life in all that lives, and the austerity of those who practise it.

    बीजं मां सर्वभूतानां विद्धि पार्थ सनातनम्

    tejaḥ — splendor

    Know me as the eternal seed of all beings, son of Pritha. I am the understanding of the understanding, the splendour of the splendid.

    द्यूतं छलयतामस्मि तेजस्तेजस्विनामहम्

    tejaḥ — the splendor

    I am the gambling of the deceitful and the brilliance of the brilliant. I am victory; I am resolve; I am the goodness of the good.

    यद्यद्विभूतिमत्सत्त्वं श्रीमदूर्जितमेव वा

    tejaḥ-anśha-sambhavam — splendor

    Whatever is glorious, whatever is beautiful, whatever is mighty — know that it comes from a fragment of my splendour.

    किरीटिनं गदिनं चक्रिणं च तेजोराशिं सर्वतोदीप्तिमन्तम्

    tejaḥ-rāśhim — abode of splendor

    I see you crowned, bearing club and disc, a mass of light blazing everywhere — hard to look at, radiant on all sides as burning fire and sun, immeasurable.

    मया प्रसन्नेन तवार्जुनेदं रूपं परं दर्शितमात्मयोगात्

    tejaḥ-mayam — resplendent

    Out of grace toward you, Arjuna, I have shown you by my own power this highest form — radiant, universal, endless, primal — which no one before you has seen.

    यदादित्यगतं तेजो जगद्भासयतेऽखिलम्

    tejaḥ — brilliance

    The radiance that is in the sun, which lights the whole world, and what is in the moon and in fire — know that radiance to be mine.

    तेजः क्षमा धृतिः शौचमद्रोहो नातिमानिता

    tejaḥ — vigor

    vigour, patience, steadfastness, cleanliness, bearing no malice, and no excessive pride — these belong to one born to the divine nature, Arjuna.

    शौर्यं तेजो धृतिर्दाक्ष्यं युद्धे चाप्यपलायनम्

    tejaḥ — strength

    Valour, vigour, steadfastness, skill, not fleeing in battle, generosity and leadership are the work born of the nature of the warrior.
