योत्स्यमानानवेक्षेऽहं य एतेऽत्र समागताः

priya-chikīrṣhavaḥ — wishing to please

I want to look at those gathered here to fight, come to do the bidding of Dhritarashtra's ill-minded son.

न प्रहृष्येत्प्रियं प्राप्य नोद्विजेत्प्राप्य चाप्रियम्

priyam — the pleasant

One should not exult on getting what is pleasant, nor shrink from what is not. Steady in understanding, unconfused, knowing Brahman, one is established in Brahman.

समदुःखसुखः स्वस्थः समलोष्टाश्मकाञ्चनः

priya — pleasant

the same in pain and pleasure, at home in the self, taking clod, stone and gold alike; the same toward what is wanted and unwanted, steady, the same under blame and praise;

यातयामं गतरसं पूति पर्युषितं च यत्

priyam — dear

Food that is stale, tasteless, putrid, spoiled, left over and unclean is dear to those of inertia.

अनुद्वेगकरं वाक्यं सत्यं प्रियहितं च यत्

priya- hitam — beneficial

Speech that causes no distress, that is true, kindly and beneficial, and the practice of study, is austerity of speech.

न च तस्मान्मनुष्येषु कश्िचन्मे प्रियकृत्तमः

priya-kṛit-tamaḥ — more dear

No one among people is dearer to me than that one, and no one will be.
