  1. 3.3

    लोकेऽस्मिन्द्विविधा निष्ठा पुरा प्रोक्ता मयानघ

    yoginām — of the yogis

    In this world there are two paths, as I have said before, sinless one: the path of knowledge, for those who reason; and the path of action, for those who act.

    दैवमेवापरे यज्ञं योगिनः पर्युपासते

    yoginaḥ — spiritual practioners

    Some who practise offer sacrifice to the gods; others offer sacrifice itself into the fire of Brahman.

  3. 5.11

    कायेन मनसा बुद्ध्या केवलैरिन्द्रियैरपि

    yoginaḥ — the yogis

    With the body, the mind, the understanding, and even with the senses alone, those who practise act — letting go of attachment, for the purifying of the self.

  4. 6.19

    यथा दीपो निवातस्थो नेङ्गते सोपमा स्मृता

    yoginaḥ — of a yogi

    As a lamp in a windless place does not flicker — that is the image held for one whose mind is disciplined, practising yoga of the self.

  5. 6.42

    अथवा योगिनामेव कुले भवति धीमताम्

    yoginām — of those endowed with divine wisdom

    or else is born into a family of those who practise and are wise. That birth is harder still to come by in this world.

    योगिनामपि सर्वेषां मद्गतेनान्तरात्मना

    yoginām — of all yogis

    And of all who practise, the one who is turned inwardly to me with faith and worships me — that one I hold to be most joined of all.

    अनन्यचेताः सततं यो मां स्मरति नित्यशः

    yoginaḥ — of the yogis

    For the one whose mind does not turn elsewhere, who remembers me constantly and always, I am easy to reach, son of Pritha.

    यत्र काले त्वनावृत्तिमावृत्तिं चैव योगिनः

    yoginaḥ — a yogi

    Now I will tell you the time at which those who practise depart and do not return, and the time at which they return.

    कथं विद्यामहं योगिंस्त्वां सदा परिचिन्तयन्

    yogin — the Supreme Master of Yogmaya

    How am I to know you, master of yoga, by constant meditation? In what forms are you to be thought of?

    यतन्तो योगिनश्चैनं पश्यन्त्यात्मन्यवस्थितम्

    yoginaḥ — yogis

    Those who practise and strive see him established in themselves. But the careless, whose selves are not made ready, do not see him though they strive.
