10.17 In what forms? Arjuna speaks
कथं विद्यामहं योगिंस्त्वां सदा परिचिन्तयन्
केषु केषु च भावेषु चिन्त्योऽसि भगवन्मया
kathaṁ vidyām ahaṁ yogins tvāṁ sadā parichintayan
keṣhu keṣhu cha bhāveṣhu chintyo ’si bhagavan mayā
How am I to know you, master of yoga, by constant meditation? In what forms are you to be thought of?
Explanation
And how am I supposed to hold you in mind?
In what forms are you to be thought of?
This is the practical question underneath the devotional one, and it is the same one chapter 12 opens with. Constant meditation needs something to meditate on, and the highest description has been systematically emptied of features.
