    ध्यायतो विषयान्पुंसः सङ्गस्तेषूपजायते

    viṣhayān — sense objects

    Dwelling on things, a person becomes attached to them. From attachment, desire is born. From desire, anger.

    रागद्वेषवियुक्तैस्तु विषयानिन्द्रियैश्चरन्

    viṣhayān — objects of the senses

    But one who moves among the objects of sense with the senses freed from craving and aversion, self-governed, comes to peace.

    श्रोत्रादीनीन्द्रियाण्यन्ये संयमाग्निषु जुह्वति

    viṣhayān — objects of sense-gratification

    Some offer hearing and the other senses into the fire of restraint; others offer sound and the other objects of sense into the fire of the senses.
