    अयतिः श्रद्धयोपेतो योगाच्चलितमानसः

    śhraddhayā — with faith

    One who has faith but is slack, whose mind wanders from yoga, and who fails to reach its perfection — where does such a person go, Krishna?

    यो यो यां यां तनुं भक्तः श्रद्धयार्चितुमिच्छति

    śhraddhayā — with faith

    Whatever form anyone wishes to worship with faith, I make their faith in it steady.

    स तया श्रद्धया युक्तस्तस्याराधनमीहते

    śhraddhayā — faith

    Joined to that faith, they seek what it offers and obtain what they want — though it is I who grant it.

    मय्यावेश्य मनो ये मां नित्ययुक्ता उपासते

    śhrī-bhagavān uvācha — the Blessed Lord said

    Those who fix their minds on me and worship me, always steady, with the highest faith — I hold them to be the best joined.

    Those who worship with faith but set aside what the scriptures direct — where do they stand, Krishna? In clarity, restlessness or inertia?

    This threefold austerity, practised with the highest faith by those who seek no fruit and are steady, is said to be of clarity.
