  1. 1.45

    अहो बत महत्पापं कर्तुं व्यवसिता वयम्

    kartum — to perform

    Alas — we have resolved to commit a great wrong, ready to kill our own people out of greed for a kingdom and its comforts.

  2. 2.17

    अविनाशि तु तद्विद्धि येन सर्वमिदं ततम्

    kartum — to cause

    Know that indestructible, by which all this is pervaded. No one can bring about the destruction of the imperishable.

  3. 3.20

    कर्मणैव हि संसिद्धिमास्थिता जनकादयः

    karmaṇā — by the performance of prescribed duties

    It was by action alone that Janaka and others before him reached perfection. So act, if only for the sake of the world.

  4. 9.2

    राजविद्या राजगुह्यं पवित्रमिदमुत्तमम्

    kartum — to practice

    This is the king of knowledge, the king of secrets, the highest purifier. It can be known directly, it accords with what is right, it is easy to practise and it does not perish.

    अथैतदप्यशक्तोऽसि कर्तुं मद्योगमाश्रितः

    kartum — to work

    And if you cannot manage even this, then take refuge in being joined to me, and give up the fruit of all action, self-restrained.

    तस्माच्छास्त्रं प्रमाणं ते कार्याकार्यव्यवस्थितौ

    karma — actions

    So let the scriptures be your measure in deciding what is to be done and what is not. Knowing what they teach, act.

  7. 18.60

    स्वभावजेन कौन्तेय निबद्धः स्वेन कर्मणा

    karmaṇā — actions

    Bound by your own nature and by the work born of it, son of Kunti, you will do the very thing you do not wish to do, unwillingly.
