Hold your assigned places at every point of entry, all of you, and above all defend Bhishma.

avasthitāḥ — situated
Those for whose sake we would want a kingdom, and pleasures, and happiness — they are the ones standing here, ready to give up their lives and their wealth:

avasthitāḥ — are standing
And I do not know which is better for us — that we should win, or that they should. Those I do not wish to outlive are the very ones standing there.

By me, in my unmanifest form, all this world is pervaded. All beings rest in me; I do not rest in them.

कालोऽस्मि लोकक्षयकृत्प्रवृद्धो लोकान्समाहर्तुमिह प्रवृत्तः
avasthitāḥ — arrayed
I am time, the destroyer of worlds, grown mighty; I have come forth to bring their ending. Even without you, none of these warriors drawn up in the opposing ranks will remain.

यथा सर्वगतं सौक्ष्म्यादाकाशं नोपलिप्यते
avasthitaḥ — situated
As space, being everywhere, is not tainted by its subtlety, so the self seated everywhere in the body is not tainted.
