1.33 The ones we wanted it for Arjuna speaks

येषामर्थे काङ्क्षितं नो राज्यं भोगाः सुखानि च
त इमेऽवस्थिता युद्धे प्राणांस्त्यक्त्वा धनानि च

yeṣhām arthe kāṅkṣhitaṁ no rājyaṁ bhogāḥ sukhāni cha
ta ime ’vasthitā yuddhe prāṇāṁs tyaktvā dhanāni cha

Those for whose sake we would want a kingdom, and pleasures, and happiness — they are the ones standing here, ready to give up their lives and their wealth:

Explanation

The ones we wanted it for are standing there.

Those for whose sake a kingdom would be worth having are the people ready to die in front of him.

This is his strongest argument and it is a good one. A victory that costs you everyone you would have shared it with is not a victory in the same currency — and Krishna never answers it on its own terms.
