    दैवमेवापरे यज्ञं योगिनः पर्युपासते

    Some who practise offer sacrifice to the gods; others offer sacrifice itself into the fire of Brahman.

    सर्वाणीन्द्रियकर्माणि प्राणकर्माणि चापरे

    Others offer every function of the senses and of the breath into the fire of self-restraint, kindled by knowledge.

    द्रव्ययज्ञास्तपोयज्ञा योगयज्ञास्तथापरे

    apare — others

    Some offer their possessions; some their austerity; some their practice; and some, holding to their vows, offer their study and their knowledge.

    अपाने जुह्वति प्राण प्राणेऽपानं तथाऽपरे

    apare — others

    Others offer the outgoing breath into the incoming, and the incoming into the outgoing, holding both still, intent on the breath.

    अपरे नियताहाराः प्राणान्प्राणेषु जुह्वति

    Others eat sparingly and offer breath into breath. All of these know what an offering is, and their wrongs are consumed by it.

    अपरेयमितस्त्वन्यां प्रकृतिं विद्धि मे पराम्

    That is the lower. Know that I have another and higher nature, mighty-armed one: the living, by which this world is upheld.
