7.14 Hard to get past Krishna speaks

दैवी ह्येषा गुणमयी मम माया दुरत्यया
मामेव ये प्रपद्यन्ते मायामेतां तरन्ति ते

daivī hyeṣhā guṇa-mayī mama māyā duratyayā
mām eva ye prapadyante māyām etāṁ taranti te

This divine appearance of mine, made of the strands, is hard to get past. But those who take refuge in me alone cross beyond it.

Explanation

Hard to get past, and the word for it is divine.

daivī māyā — his own appearance, made of the strands, and duratyayā, hard to cross.

The obstacle is not an opponent. It belongs to him, which is why the way through it is given as taking refuge in him alone rather than as defeating anything.
