    यदि मामप्रतीकारमशस्त्रं शस्त्रपाणयः

    yadi — if

    If Dhritarashtra's sons, weapons in hand, were to kill me here unresisting and unarmed, that would be better for me.

    न चैतद्विद्मः कतरन्नो गरीयो यद्वा जयेम यदि वा नो जयेयुः

    yadi — if

    And I do not know which is better for us — that we should win, or that they should. Those I do not wish to outlive are the very ones standing there.
