    कथं न ज्ञेयमस्माभिः पापादस्मान्निवर्तितुम्

    pāpāt — from sin

    how should we, who can see it, not turn away from this wrong?

  2. 3.13

    यज्ञशिष्टाशिनः सन्तो मुच्यन्ते सर्वकिल्बिषैः

    pāpāḥ — sinners

    The good, who eat what is left after the offering, are released from every fault. Those who cook only for themselves eat their own wrongdoing.

    ब्रह्मण्याधाय कर्माणि सङ्गं त्यक्त्वा करोति यः

    pāpena — by sin

    One who acts having placed all actions in Brahman, having let go of attachment, is not stained by wrongdoing — as a lotus leaf is not wetted by water.

    सुहृन्मित्रार्युदासीनमध्यस्थद्वेष्यबन्धुषु

    pāpeṣhu — the sinners

    One who regards alike a well-wisher, a friend, an enemy, a stranger, a mediator, someone hateful, a relative, the good and the bad — that one stands out.

    त्रैविद्या मां सोमपाः पूतपापा यज्ञैरिष्ट्वा स्वर्गतिं प्रार्थयन्ते

    Knowers of the three Vedas, drinkers of soma, purified of fault, worshipping me by offerings, ask for the way to heaven — and reaching the world of the gods, they enjoy its pleasures.
