वासांसि जीर्णानि यथा विहाय नवानि गृह्णाति नरोऽपराणि
dehī — the embodied soul
As a person lays aside worn-out clothes and puts on new ones, so the embodied one lays aside worn-out bodies and takes up others.
- 2.30
देही नित्यमवध्योऽयं देहे सर्वस्य भारत
dehī — the soul that dwells within the body
The one who dwells in the body of every being cannot be killed. So do not grieve for any creature.
- 5.13
सर्वकर्माणि मनसा संन्यस्यास्ते सुखं वशी
dehī — the embodied being
Having renounced all actions with the mind, the self-governed one dwells at ease. The embodied one in this city of nine gates neither acts nor causes action.

गुणानेतानतीत्य त्रीन्देही देहसमुद्भवान्
dehī — the embodied
Having gone beyond these three strands, out of which the body arises, the embodied one is freed from birth, death, old age and pain, and reaches the deathless.
