  1. 7.17

    तेषां ज्ञानी नित्ययुक्त एकभक्ितर्विशिष्यते

    bhaktiḥ — devotion

    Of these, the one who knows — always steady, devoted to the one thing — stands out. I am dear to that person, and that person is dear to me.

    पत्रं पुष्पं फलं तोयं यो मे भक्त्या प्रयच्छति

    bhaktyā — with devotion

    A leaf, a flower, a fruit, water — whoever offers me these with devotion, I accept that offering from one who has given it with a pure heart.

    यो न हृष्यति न द्वेष्टि न शोचति न काङ्क्षति

    bhakti-mān — full of devotion

    One who neither exults nor hates, neither grieves nor craves, who has let go of both the pleasant and the unpleasant — that one is dear to me.

    तुल्यनिन्दास्तुतिर्मौनी सन्तुष्टो येनकेनचित्

    bhakti-mān — full of devotion

    the same under blame and praise, quiet, content with whatever comes, without a fixed dwelling, steady in mind — such a devoted person is dear to me.

    मयि चानन्ययोगेन भक्ितरव्यभिचारिणी

    bhaktiḥ — devotion

    unwavering devotion to me, turned nowhere else; a liking for solitary places, and no taste for crowds;

    And one who serves me with unwavering devotion, going beyond these strands, is fit for the state of Brahman.

    But one who declares this deepest secret among those devoted to me does the highest act of devotion, and will surely come to me.
