7.18 All worthy, and one is my self Krishna speaks

उदाराः सर्व एवैते ज्ञानी त्वात्मैव मे मतम्
आस्थितः स हि युक्तात्मा मामेवानुत्तमां गतिम्

udārāḥ sarva evaite jñānī tvātmaiva me matam
āsthitaḥ sa hi yuktātmā mām evānuttamāṁ gatim

All of them are worthy, but the one who knows is my very self, as I see it. Steady, that person has taken me as the highest goal.

Explanation

All of them worthy — and one is my very self.

udārāḥ sarva evaite: every one of the four is noble. Then the one who knows is called my own self, as I see it.

Note the hedge. As I see it — the strongest claim in the chapter about a human being arrives marked as an opinion, which is a remarkable thing for this speaker to do.
