7.1 Hear how you will know me Krishna speaks
मय्यासक्तमनाः पार्थ योगं युञ्जन्मदाश्रयः
असंशयं समग्रं मां यथा ज्ञास्यसि तच्छृणु
mayyāsakta-manāḥ pārtha yogaṁ yuñjan mad-āśhrayaḥ
asanśhayaṁ samagraṁ māṁ yathā jñāsyasi tach chhṛiṇu
With your mind attached to me, son of Pritha, practising yoga and taking refuge in me — hear how you will know me completely and without doubt.
Explanation
The conditions come before the teaching.
Mind attached to him, practising yoga, taking refuge — and then hear how you will know me completely.
This chapter is often read as the metaphysical turn of the book, and it opens by saying the knowledge is not available on its own terms. What is offered is not information but something that requires a prior orientation to land.
