6.14 Serene, and fearless Krishna speaks
प्रशान्तात्मा विगतभीर्ब्रह्मचारिव्रते स्थितः
मनः संयम्य मच्चित्तो युक्त आसीत मत्परः
praśhāntātmā vigata-bhīr brahmachāri-vrate sthitaḥ
manaḥ sanyamya mach-chitto yukta āsīta mat-paraḥ
serene, fearless, holding to the vow of continence, mind restrained and turned on me — so one should sit, intent on me as the goal.
Explanation
Serene, and fearless.
vigata-bhīḥ — fear gone. In a book that opened with a man paralysed by it, its appearance in a list of postural instructions is worth noticing.
And then the turn outward: mind restrained and turned on me. The technique has been entirely impersonal for four verses, and here it acquires an object.
