Keeping outward contacts outside, the gaze between the brows, the outgoing and incoming breaths made even,

Explanation

The technique, briefly and physically.

Contacts kept outside, the gaze between the brows, the in-breath and out-breath made even. Two verses of method in a chapter otherwise made of argument.

Chapter 6 will expand this into its whole subject and chapter 8 will use it for the hour of death. Here it arrives with no preparation and is over in a line.
