3.40 Where it lives Krishna speaks
इन्द्रियाणि मनो बुद्धिरस्याधिष्ठानमुच्यते
एतैर्विमोहयत्येष ज्ञानमावृत्य देहिनम्
indriyāṇi mano buddhir asyādhiṣhṭhānam uchyate
etair vimohayatyeṣha jñānam āvṛitya dehinam
The senses, the mind and the understanding are said to be its dwelling place. Through these it deludes the embodied one, clouding knowledge.
Explanation
Where it lives.
The senses, the mind and the understanding are said to be its dwelling place. Through these it deludes the embodied one.
All three faculties are compromised, including the one you would use to detect the problem. Which is why the instruction that follows starts at the bottom of the ladder rather than the top.
