3.19 So do your work, unattached Krishna speaks
तस्मादसक्तः सततं कार्यं कर्म समाचर
असक्तो ह्याचरन्कर्म परमाप्नोति पूरुषः
tasmād asaktaḥ satataṁ kāryaṁ karma samāchara
asakto hyācharan karma param āpnoti pūruṣhaḥ
So do the work that falls to you, always, without attachment. Acting unattached, a person reaches the highest.
Explanation
So: back to the instruction.
Do the work that falls to you, always, without attachment. Acting unattached, a person reaches the highest.
The exception in 3.17 has been stated and set aside, and the sentence resumes exactly where 3.8 left it. The Gita's core instruction never changes; what changes is the reason attached to it.
