2.9 I will not fight Sanjaya speaks

एवमुक्त्वा हृषीकेशं गुडाकेशः परन्तप
न योत्स्य इति गोविन्दमुक्त्वा तूष्णीं बभूव ह

evam-uktvā hṛiṣhīkeśhaṁ guḍākeśhaḥ parantapa
na yotsya iti govindam uktvā tūṣhṇīṁ babhūva ha

Having spoken this way to Krishna, Arjuna said, “I will not fight,” and fell silent.

Explanation

I will not fight — and then silence.

na yotsya iti, and he fell silent.

He has asked to be taught and then closed the subject. Both in the same breath, which is an entirely recognisable thing to do, and the silence is what Krishna answers first.
