11.44 As a father bears with a son Arjuna speaks

तस्मात्प्रणम्य प्रणिधाय कायं प्रसादये त्वामहमीशमीड्यम्
पितेव पुत्रस्य सखेव सख्युः प्रियः प्रियायार्हसि देव सोढुम्

tasmāt praṇamya praṇidhāya kāyaṁ
prasādaye tvām aham īśham īḍyam
piteva putrasya sakheva sakhyuḥ
priyaḥ priyāyārhasi deva soḍhum

So I bow down, I prostrate my body, and I ask your grace, lord worthy of worship. As a father bears with a son, a friend with a friend, a lover with the beloved — bear with me.

Explanation

As a father bears with a son.

As a friend with a friend, as a lover with the beloved — priyaḥ priyāyāḥbear with me.

Three human relations offered as the model for how God should treat him. Having established that nothing is comparable, he asks to be handled comparably.
