11.35 Stammering, in great fear Sanjaya speaks

एतच्छ्रुत्वा वचनं केशवस्य कृताञ्जलिर्वेपमानः किरीटी
नमस्कृत्वा भूय एवाह कृष्णं सगद्गदं भीतभीतः प्रणम्य

etach chhrutvā vachanaṁ keśhavasya
kṛitāñjalir vepamānaḥ kirīṭī
namaskṛitvā bhūya evāha kṛiṣhṇaṁ
sa-gadgadaṁ bhīta-bhītaḥ praṇamya

Hearing these words of Krishna, Arjuna joined his palms, trembling, bowed down, and spoke again — stammering, in great fear.

Explanation

Stammering, in great fear.

sa-gadgadam — with a voice choking. Trembling, palms joined, bowed down.

The narration is Sanjaya's again, and it is unsparing. The response to being told be the instrument is not resolve. It is a man who can barely speak.
