buddhiḥ — intellect
The senses are said to be greater than the body; greater than the senses is the mind; greater than the mind, the understanding; and greater than the understanding is that.

एवं बुद्धेः परं बुद्ध्वा संस्तभ्यात्मानमात्मना
buddheḥ — than the intellect
Knowing that which is beyond the understanding, steadying the lower self by the higher, strike down this enemy, mighty-armed one — desire, so hard to master.

बुद्धेर्भेदं धृतेश्चैव गुणतस्त्रिविधं श्रृणु
