atītaḥ — surpassed
Content with whatever comes unsought, beyond opposites, without envy, the same in success and failure — such a person acts and is not bound.

कैर्लिंगैस्त्रीन्गुणानेतानतीतो भवति प्रभो
atītaḥ — having transcended
By what signs is one known who has gone beyond these three strands, lord? How does such a person behave, and how do they pass beyond them?

यस्मात्क्षरमतीतोऽहमक्षरादपि चोत्तमः
atītaḥ — transcendental
Because I am beyond the perishable and higher even than the imperishable, I am celebrated in the world and in the Vedas as the highest person.
