9.24 And so they fall Krishna speaks
अहं हि सर्वयज्ञानां भोक्ता च प्रभुरेव च
न तु मामभिजानन्ति तत्त्वेनातश्च्यवन्ति ते
ahaṁ hi sarva-yajñānāṁ bhoktā cha prabhureva cha
na tu mām abhijānanti tattvenātaśh chyavanti te
For I am the one who receives every offering, and its lord. But they do not know me as I am, and so they fall.
Explanation
And then the limit, stated in the same breath.
He receives every offering and is its lord — but they do not know him as he is, and so they fall.
Not rejected. The offering arrives; the worshipper does not. What fails is not the devotion but the aim, which is precisely what 9.25 is about to make mechanical.
