7.25 Veiled by my own power Krishna speaks
नाहं प्रकाशः सर्वस्य योगमायासमावृतः
मूढोऽयं नाभिजानाति लोको मामजमव्ययम्
nāhaṁ prakāśhaḥ sarvasya yoga-māyā-samāvṛitaḥ
mūḍho ’yaṁ nābhijānāti loko mām ajam avyayam
I am not manifest to everyone; I am veiled by my own power. The deluded world does not know me, unborn and unchanging.
Explanation
Veiled by his own power.
Not manifest to everyone; hidden by yoga-māyā. The veil is his, which is the same ownership 7.14 gave to the obstacle.
So the difficulty of knowing him is not an accident of human limitation and not an opposing force. It is part of the arrangement, and the chapter offers no explanation of why.
