6.25 Little by little Krishna speaks
शनैः शनैरुपरमेद् बुद्ध्या धृतिगृहीतया
आत्मसंस्थं मनः कृत्वा न किञ्चिदपि चिन्तयेत्
śhanaiḥ śhanair uparamed buddhyā dhṛiti-gṛihītayā
ātma-sansthaṁ manaḥ kṛitvā na kiñchid api chintayet
little by little one should come to rest, by an understanding held firm — the mind fixed in the self, and thinking of nothing at all.
Explanation
Little by little.
śanaiḥ śanaiḥ — and this is the pace the whole chapter is written at. By an understanding held firm, the mind fixed in the self.
Nothing here is sudden. The Gita elsewhere allows for realisation arriving at once; this chapter is about the case where it does not, and its instruction is gradualness.
