6.24 Restraining on every side Krishna speaks
सङ्कल्पप्रभवान्कामांस्त्यक्त्वा सर्वानशेषतः
मनसैवेन्द्रियग्रामं विनियम्य समन्ततः
saṅkalpa-prabhavān kāmāns tyaktvā sarvān aśheṣhataḥ
manasaivendriya-grāmaṁ viniyamya samantataḥ
Abandoning entirely all desires born of intention, restraining the whole company of the senses with the mind on every side,
Explanation
Every desire born of intention, abandoned.
The word is saṅkalpa again, from 6.2 — the planning, the settling-what-for. And the senses restrained with the mind on every side.
The phrase suggests something surrounded rather than suppressed. Nothing is being fought; the whole company is simply enclosed.
