5.19 Conquered in this very life Krishna speaks

इहैव तैर्जितः सर्गो येषां साम्ये स्थितं मनः
निर्दोषं हि समं ब्रह्म तस्माद्ब्रह्मणि ते स्थिताः

ihaiva tair jitaḥ sargo yeṣhāṁ sāmye sthitaṁ manaḥ
nirdoṣhaṁ hi samaṁ brahma tasmād brahmaṇi te sthitāḥ

Those whose minds are established in evenness have conquered creation in this very life. Brahman is flawless and the same, and so they are established in Brahman.

Explanation

Conquered — in this life, not after it.

ihaiva, right here. Those whose minds rest in evenness have already won, and the reason given is almost syllogistic: Brahman is flawless and the same everywhere, so a mind that is the same everywhere is already there.

Nothing is being awaited. The chapter keeps insisting the goal is a present tense.
