5.16 Then it lights everything Krishna speaks

ज्ञानेन तु तदज्ञानं येषां नाशितमात्मनः
तेषामादित्यवज्ज्ञानं प्रकाशयति तत्परम्

jñānena tu tad ajñānaṁ yeṣhāṁ nāśhitam ātmanaḥ
teṣhām āditya-vaj jñānaṁ prakāśhayati tat param

But for those in whom that ignorance of the self has been destroyed by knowledge, knowledge lights up the highest as the sun lights up everything.

Explanation

Then it lights everything, the way the sun does.

Once the covering is destroyed by knowledge, the highest is simply lit — and the comparison is to sunlight, which does not illuminate selectively.

Consistent with 5.15: if ignorance is a cover rather than an absence, then removing it does not produce a little light in one place. It produces the ordinary condition of being able to see.
