3.10 Beings and sacrifice together Krishna speaks
सहयज्ञाः प्रजाः सृष्ट्वा पुरोवाच प्रजापतिः
अनेन प्रसविष्यध्वमेष वोऽस्त्विष्टकामधुक्
saha-yajñāḥ prajāḥ sṛiṣhṭvā purovācha prajāpatiḥ
anena prasaviṣhyadhvam eṣha vo ’stviṣhṭa-kāma-dhuk
In the beginning the Lord of creatures brought forth beings together with sacrifice, and said: by this, flourish; let this be what grants your wishes.
Explanation
Beings and sacrifice were brought forth together.
The Lord of creatures made them in one act and said: by this, flourish.
So the exchange is not something added to creation afterwards. Giving is described as coeval with existing — which is why 3.12 can call taking without giving theft rather than merely ingratitude.
