18.55 One enters into me Krishna speaks
भक्त्या मामभिजानाति यावान्यश्चास्मि तत्त्वतः
ततो मां तत्त्वतो ज्ञात्वा विशते तदनन्तरम्
bhaktyā mām abhijānāti yāvān yaśh chāsmi tattvataḥ
tato māṁ tattvato jñātvā viśhate tad-anantaram
Through devotion one comes to know me as I am, how much and what I am; and knowing me so, one enters into me at once.
Explanation
One enters into me.
Through devotion one comes to know him as he is, how much and what — and knowing so, enters.
Three verbs escalating, as at 11.54. Knowing is not the destination in this book; it is the thing that makes entering possible.
