17.9 Sharp, hot, and paid for later Krishna speaks
कट्वम्ललवणात्युष्णतीक्ष्णरूक्षविदाहिनः
आहारा राजसस्येष्टा दुःखशोकामयप्रदाः
kaṭv-amla-lavaṇāty-uṣhṇa- tīkṣhṇa-rūkṣha-vidāhinaḥ
āhārā rājasasyeṣhṭā duḥkha-śhokāmaya-pradāḥ
Foods that are bitter, sour, salty, very hot, sharp, dry and burning are wanted by those of restlessness, and bring pain, grief and sickness.

The verb matters. These foods are not bad, they are craved, and the objection is structural in exactly the way 5.22 objected to pleasure: the appetite and the cost are the same event seen at two times.
