11.9 And then he showed him Sanjaya speaks

एवमुक्त्वा ततो राजन्महायोगेश्वरो हरिः
दर्शयामास पार्थाय परमं रूपमैश्वरम्

evam uktvā tato rājan mahā-yogeśhvaro hariḥ
darśhayām āsa pārthāya paramaṁ rūpam aiśhwaram

Having spoken thus, O king, the great lord of yoga then showed to Arjuna his highest form as ruler —

Explanation

And then he showed him.

The narration changes hands. Sanjaya is speaking to the blind king again, as in chapter 1, and will narrate for five verses.

The switch matters. The most extraordinary thing in the poem is reported by a third party, to someone who cannot see, at second hand.
