11.40 From every side Arjuna speaks
नमः पुरस्तादथ पृष्ठतस्ते नमोऽस्तु ते सर्वत एव सर्व
अनन्तवीर्यामितविक्रमस्त्वं सर्वं समाप्नोषि ततोऽसि सर्वः
namaḥ purastād atha pṛiṣhṭhatas te
namo ’stu te sarvata eva sarva
ananta-vīryāmita-vikramas tvaṁ
sarvaṁ samāpnoṣhi tato ’si sarvaḥ
I bow to you from the front and from behind; I bow to you on every side, you who are all. Of endless strength and measureless might, you pervade everything, and so you are all.
Explanation
From the front, from behind, from every side.
Because the form faces every way — 11.11's sarvato-mukham — there is no direction that is not toward him.
The bowing has become geometrical, and the verse ends by drawing the conclusion: you pervade everything, and so you are all.
