10.37 Among the Pandavas, Arjuna Krishna speaks
वृष्णीनां वासुदेवोऽस्मि पाण्डवानां धनंजयः
मुनीनामप्यहं व्यासः कवीनामुशना कविः
vṛiṣhṇīnāṁ vāsudevo ’smi pāṇḍavānāṁ dhanañjayaḥ
munīnām apyahaṁ vyāsaḥ kavīnām uśhanā kaviḥ
Among the Vrishnis I am Vasudeva; among the Pandavas, Arjuna; among sages, Vyasa; and among the wise, Ushana.
Explanation
Among the Pandavas, Arjuna.
Vasudeva among the Vrishnis — which is Krishna himself — Vyasa among sages, Ushana among the wise.
He names the man he is talking to. In a list of the best of every category, Arjuna is included, which is either the most consoling thing in the chapter or the most unsettling.
