10.25 The single syllable Krishna speaks

महर्षीणां भृगुरहं गिरामस्म्येकमक्षरम्
यज्ञानां जपयज्ञोऽस्मि स्थावराणां हिमालयः

maharṣhīṇāṁ bhṛigur ahaṁ girām asmyekam akṣharam
yajñānāṁ japa-yajño ’smi sthāvarāṇāṁ himālayaḥ

Among the great seers I am Bhrigu; among words, the single syllable; among offerings, the offering of silent repetition; and among unmoving things, the Himalaya.

Explanation

Among words, the single syllable.

Bhrigu among seers; Om among words; among offerings, the offering of silent repetition; the Himalaya among things that do not move.

The offering named is the quietest one available — no fire, no gift, no audience — and it is placed at the top of its category.
