10.19 Only the chief of them Krishna speaks
हन्त ते कथयिष्यामि दिव्या ह्यात्मविभूतयः
प्राधान्यतः कुरुश्रेष्ठ नास्त्यन्तो विस्तरस्य मे
hanta te kathayiṣhyāmi divyā hyātma-vibhūtayaḥ
prādhānyataḥ kuru-śhreṣhṭha nāstyanto vistarasya me
Very well — I will tell you of my divine glories, but only the chief of them, Arjuna, for there is no end to them.
Explanation
Very well — but only the chief of them.
For there is no end to them. The catalogue is announced as a selection before it begins.
Which is how the chapter avoids being a claim to completeness. Twenty-two verses of glories are framed at both ends — here and at 10.40 — as a sample.
