1.7 But hear who is ours Sanjaya speaks

अस्माकं तु विशिष्टा ये तान्निबोध द्विजोत्तम
नायका मम सैन्यस्य संज्ञार्थं तान्ब्रवीमि ते

asmākaṁ tu viśhiṣhṭā ye tānnibodha dwijottama
nāyakā mama sainyasya sanjñārthaṁ tānbravīmi te

But hear now, best of the twice-born, who on our side are the finest. I will name for you the commanders of my army.

Now, finally, his own side.

But hear now who among us are the finest — and note the address: best of the twice-born, still speaking to Drona.

Four verses were spent on the enemy. His own commanders get three, and the reassurance is aimed at himself as much as at the teacher he is trying to steady.
