  1. 3.7

    यस्त्विन्द्रियाणि मनसा नियम्यारभतेऽर्जुन

    viśhiṣhyate — are superior

    But one who controls the senses with the mind, Arjuna, and takes up action with the organs of action while remaining unattached — that one is better.

    संन्यासः कर्मयोगश्च निःश्रेयसकरावुभौ

    viśhiṣhyate — is superior

    Both renunciation and the yoga of action lead to the highest. But of the two, the yoga of action is the better.

    सुहृन्मित्रार्युदासीनमध्यस्थद्वेष्यबन्धुषु

    viśhiṣhyate — is distinguished

    One who regards alike a well-wisher, a friend, an enemy, a stranger, a mediator, someone hateful, a relative, the good and the bad — that one stands out.

    तेषां ज्ञानी नित्ययुक्त एकभक्ितर्विशिष्यते

    viśhiṣhyate — highest

    Of these, the one who knows — always steady, devoted to the one thing — stands out. I am dear to that person, and that person is dear to me.

    श्रेयो हि ज्ञानमभ्यासाज्ज्ञानाद्ध्यानं विशिष्यते

    viśhiṣhyate — better

    Knowledge is better than mere practice; meditation is better than knowledge; giving up the fruit of action is better than meditation — and from that giving up comes peace at once.
