    लोभः प्रवृत्तिरारम्भः कर्मणामशमः स्पृहा

    lobhaḥ — greed

    Greed, busyness, the undertaking of actions, restlessness and craving arise when restlessness has grown strong.

  2. 14.17

    सत्त्वात्सञ्जायते ज्ञानं रजसो लोभ एव च

    lobhaḥ — greed

    From clarity arises knowledge; from restlessness, greed; from inertia, heedlessness, delusion and unknowing.

  3. 16.21

    त्रिविधं नरकस्येदं द्वारं नाशनमात्मनः

    lobhaḥ — greed

    Desire, anger and greed — these are the three gates to what destroys the self. Give them up.
