लोभः प्रवृत्तिरारम्भः कर्मणामशमः स्पृहा
etāni — these
Greed, busyness, the undertaking of actions, restlessness and craving arise when restlessness has grown strong.

अप्रकाशोऽप्रवृत्तिश्च प्रमादो मोह एव च
etāni — these
Darkness, inactivity, heedlessness and delusion arise when inertia has grown strong, Arjuna.

शरीरं यदवाप्नोति यच्चाप्युत्क्रामतीश्वरः

When the lord of the body takes a body, and when he leaves it, he carries these with him — as the wind carries scents from their places.

एतान्यपि तु कर्माणि सङ्गं त्यक्त्वा फलानि च
